Chana Dal Masala

Ingredients:-

Chana dal/split pea lentils 1 cup

Onion, finely chopped 1

Tomato finely chopped 1

Green chillies, finely chopped 2

Ginger-garlic paste 1 tbsp

Red chili powder 1/2 tsp

Turmeric 1/4 tsp

Coriander powder 1 tsp

Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp

Oil 2tbsp

Salt as per taste

Method:-

Soak chana dal 1 hour before cooking.

Heat oil in a pressure cooker and saute cumin seeds, green chillies, and onions till brown in colour. Add in spices and ginger-garlic paste, and fry for a few seconds.

Add in the chopped tomatoes and salt, and cook for a few minutes to combine well. Add lentils, and enough water to cover them. Pressure cook for 5-7 minutes till lentils are soft and done. Stir in more water if you want a much thinner consistency, and let it come to a boil.

Loaded with protein! Looks very nice. When you say channa dal, do you mean the whole garbanzo or the split channa dal? Just curious.
